How We Worship

There are several elements which must be in place in order for worship to happen. We seek to worship within a right, biblical theology.

We are striving to be a Christian community of Anglicans who are faithful worshippers of Jesus Christ in the Mesilla Valley.

We follow an Anglican style of worship in that we stand for praise, sit for instruction and kneel for prayer. We also follow the typical Anglican order of service. The 1928 Book of Common Prayer gives us this kind of worship. It presents reformed and biblical worship and its use draws us into the presence of God. We have a corporate recitation of the Nicene Creed, the Prayer of General Confession, Scripture readings, and prayers, some in unison, and some read responsively.

Before the prayers, an offering is taken from our members (first-time visitors are not expected to give) while an anthem is sung, and the Communion Table is set. Communion is available every Sunday for all baptized Christians who are duly prepared in mind and heart to receive the Lord's Supper. A final hymn is sung to end the service. Following the service there is time to fellowship together and to greet one another.

Worship must show how much we believe God is worth! And, we are to be that fellowship of believers who are family outside the sanctuary, as well as inside it. The more we grow together in Christ, the better and more meaningful worship will be.

We hope that when you visit, you will find it to be a welcoming, friendly atmosphere, which helps you to encounter and worship the Living God.
