Our Mission Focus
Every Christian is a missionary. This may sound like a bold statement, but the commission of Christ to the disciples in Matthew 28.19-20 is the heritage that has been entrusted to all believers:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
The commission is clear: Christians are to be disciple makers, discipling takes place in every nation, it involves evangelizing the world and baptizing people into the fellowship of the Christian family, teaching the Word of God and growing in faith. And Jesus’ promise that He will be with us to the end of the age - a beautiful and powerful promise that the authority of Jesus Christ, the comfort and care of the Holy Spirit, the backing of the power of God will carry us forward in that job.

St. Patrick’s exists to be a loving family who’s focus is the Great Commission. Ephesians 4.11-17 tells us,
"And [Jesus] gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love."
So the local community is instituted by Jesus to be that place where we grow into the “measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” We believe that the fellowship of believers ought to be a loving, caring, community. But it is also to be a place where we are challenged to move forward and grow together so that we can all join in on the Great Commission.

David Platt, in his book “Radical Together,” passionately said, “I want my life and the church I am a part of to count for the mobilization of God’s people and the completion of God’s purpose. [To] join with others who . . . don’t want to miss out on the thrill of radical obedience to Christ in the world because I am busy maintaining business as usual in the church.” (Platt, 125)

Here at St. Patrick’s we are looking for people to join us in this mission. To be a part of that fellowship of believers who want to see God’s purpose completed. To challenge and be challenged to take up that call.
